Beerita.id – Carmelo Ezpelata, Bos Dorna Sports ingin menegaskan lagi kalau MotoGP 2020 akan digelar sesuai rencana. Kalau perlu, musim ini non stop sampai Desember dan balapan digelar saat Natal.
Carmelo Ezpelata secara mengejutkan muncul dalam sesi konferensi pers jelang digelarnya GP Qatar, Jumat (6/3/2020) waktu setempat. Di tengah ketiadaan pebalap-pebalap MotoGP, Ezpelata jadi sorotan besar dalam temu wartawan tersebut.
Dalam pernyataannya pada wartawa, Ezpelata menegaskan lagi komitmen Dorna Sport untuk menggelar MotoGP musim ini. Setelah MotoGP Qatar dipastikan batal, dia menyebut musim 2020 bakal memggelar 19 balapan.
“Regulasinya mengatakan minimal 13 balapan, tapi kami menargetkan meggelar 19 balapan,” ucap Ezpelata dikutip dari GPone.
“Kami siap untuk segalanya. Bahkan jika harus menggelar balapan di negara yang sedang merayakan Natal. Kami keras kepala. Tugas kami adalah menggelar balapan, dan kami akan melakukannya,” lanjut dia.
Di Qatar akhir pekan ini, hanya Moto2 dan Moto3 yang diperlombakan. Kelas MotoGP dipastikan ditiadakan karena kekhawatiran merebaknya virus corona.
Balapan lain yang terimbas adalah MotoGP Thailand , yang sudah diputuskan diundur sampai Oktober. (bee4)
